Available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCdO16LpA0U In this video we played a set list for our EP launch event, our EP name is "Hidden But Found" we played 9 songs in total. I played in 2 songs which include "Treasure" by Bruno Mars and "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. We start playing my first song at 1:53:40, I am playing lead positioned stage right in front of the drummer on stage guitar. The first thing I noticed and worked on was to move around and have a good stage presence while looking at the crowd which would look and feel more engaging for the audience, I struggled with this in rehearsals so I'm glad I looked at the crowd more often. At 1:55:35 we had a part where the the guitar was playing solo and the chord shape when down a fret 4 times and each time I played one of those chords I bent my whole guitar down to make the performance more engaging and dynamic as it a...

Open Day performance and evaluation

PerformingArts LSC Expressive Arts (2026). UAL Diploma Music Performance & Production - Hidden But Found - performance - 7 March (2 of3). [online] YouTube. Available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE7qyGBzjfQ In this video we played our set list for the open day for our college. I played lead guitar on the song "Don’t Stop Believin" at 15:00 by Journey. I was positioned stage right behind the backing guitarist. One thing that went well for me was the amp tone settings, previously I had issues with volume being too quiet and the tone on the guitar didn't sound good. To solve this before we started I played a few notes on the guitar to hear if the tone was right and it was so I was ready for the rest of the song. At 15:22 the vocalists microphone was either turned off or on mute, and that startled me as I was prepared for the vocals to come in there. To prevent this I think that the singer should do sound checks so this would be prevented in the future. From this w...

Listening Session Evaluations

Wildflower Track 1 reverb and delay on vocals which makes it sound like it has more depth, and a sense of "real" space to vocals. I think the kick is too overpowering not matching the vibe but it may be the speakers we listened to it on. The guitar should've used only bar chords or only open chords as some of the chords you could hear the bottom string which had bass and other chords you couldn't making the chords seem unbalanced. Bella's interlude Track 2 the sampled vocals where off key to the chords of the song making it clash and sound unnatural. The drums weren't mastered properly, but this was due to the mix being in one channel so we couldn't master each individual channel. Forever Track 3 Reverb on the vocals is good and the auto-tune is good but sounds too over corrected which for a Daniel Caesar song it didn't sound right. The bass got amplified too much at the point it started to drown some other instrument's. However it was hard to mix ...

Music Distribution

The first CD Manufacturing company that I have researched is "directcds", It is a UK company based in Hertfordshire and is well known for their Quality, Service & Prices. To make 50 CDs it will cost £1.50 per CD which is £75. However there is VAT and shippings costs which would be around £25 so our total would come out to be £100 for 50 CDs. To get 100 CDs it would go down to £1.30 per CD and after VAT it comes out to £168.00. In my opinion if we choose this CD manufacturer, I think the best option is to get 50 CDs. The second CD Manufacturing company I have chosen to research is "bandcds" It has many customisable options including CD colour, Lamination, Inner Spine Printing and more. But they have multiple reviews that praise they customisation, quality and delivery. However with all that it would come with a much higher price coming out at around £250 for just 50 CDs. I think that this CD manufacturer is very good as theres all the customisation that could mak...

Mixing

Image
After recording every track an artist wants in a song, the process of mixing starts. It involves balancing and blending the sounds into a final product that is distinct and clear. Panning is used to spread sounds around the listeners ears going left and right like in many Michael Jackson songs. EQ is used to shape sounds to avoid frequencies clashing, levels are balanced to ensure that each part of the song is heard. The mix starts to get more depth and starts to feel spacious, because to the use of reverb and delay.  Cory (2025). How to Mix Music - A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners. [online] Gear4music Blog. Available at: https://www.gear4music.com/blog/how-to-mix-music/ Balance is all about controlling the level of all the tracks so that they can be heard well. Vocals, drums, and bass are the parts that are usually louder unlike the rest of the instruments like vocals and backing instruments, which are quieter. Using balance helps make a song sound more pleas...
